BLOG NUMBER 9: 23rd June 2026
For the past ten weeks I have been keeping my head down and getting on with writing... and recording!
Yes, I decided that recording an Audiobook for The Book of Mook would be a good idea. Imagine, my book on Audible and other sites which require eardrums instead of eyes.
Certainly, I could have got an AI to read the book for me in no time. Or I could have hired a proper professional audiobook reader... but as the story is personal to me and about my life, I thought it was only right that I take the bull by the horns and read it myself.
Therefore, I searched to find an affordable studio here in Vietnam and finally came across Unstoppable Studio, located in the depths of Ho Chi Minh City.
So, for the past few weeks I have been grabbing the odd hour or two whenever I can find the time, heading into the studios wonderfully soundproofed room where sound engineer and producer, Thy, has been helping me get my vocals down and somehow making them sound as crisp and as warm as possible.
One thing I didn't factor in, however, was how hard it is to do an audiobook as a reader! Especially doing things like 'voices' along with the many alliterations and tongue twisters my book contains!
But, so far so good, I am two thirds through and aim to finish it in the next couple of weeks. Then it's onto editing and mixing, which may take some time... but I aim to get The Book of Mook audiobook out on the same day and month I released the Ebook, paperback and hardback of The Book of Mook last year, which was the 22nd August 2025, all being well.
Alongside this, I am considering releasing a second edition of The Book of Mook with a new cover, just to re-spark interest in the book with a fresh look. To those of you who have the original first edition, this means that it might well be a valuable saught after edition one of these days! You never know!
As for the second book, The Book of Fiffle, it is still in the working and I aim to finish it this year too.
In the meantime, I must remind you that my 187 page novella, The Legend of Zuluzog, is still available on Amazon and Google Play Books as a free Ebook. I think it's a fun read and well worth your time, containing more details about the lives of the zogs before and during the time of the first mookey child, Fiffle. Alongside this, there are some true-life interims, as with The Book of Mook, detailing my life back when the story first came to me.
That's all for now. I shall be back sooner rather than later!
Until then, thanks for reading and take care!
