BLOG NUMBER 11: 9th September 2026
Hi there, how have you been?
I am doing okay here, still maintaining the discipline of writing every day, regardless of the output being mookey related or not. Keeping that mind muscle exercised is important, I feel. Although maybe I should be focusing just as much on the rest of my body, as it is easy to neglect these flesh suits which we have been entrusted with, especially in my case, being someone who makes a habit of sitting down on their butt all day, the usual position of those who play with words find themselves in.
Thankfully, I have a wife who always tells me to get up and stretch. Lately though, this has been taken to an extreme as she has got me into the painful practise of yoga, something she enjoys, somehow. I was once a very supple human being and could easily kick above my head. These days, it has to be said, I have lost a lot of my flexibility, even finding touching my toes more of a chore then I would like to admit. Surprisingly though, after just a few sessions, I can once again caress my own feet from a standing position without too much effort! That which is lost can be regained, it seems!
As for my writing, I am forging back on with the Book of Fiffle, after a little bit of a hiatus. My inner voice has been heeding Mark's lessons, to wait for the stories to come, not to go searching for them, as that is like trying to force a thing rather than let it flow. True, a lot of this second mookey novel comes from true life, my memories during my work experience at De La Rue Systems back in the 90s, to be precise. Also, the mookey tales which make up the book proper have mostly been pieced together and fleshed out from Mark's mutterings, segments of stories that have ended up being strewn on text files. For sure, we are on the way there, although not quite there yet. I was perhaps a bit foolish to tell everyone I would have the book out in August. I can not presume to predict these things... I guess Mark would be chiding me for my impulsiveness if he were here.
So, like I advised before, please remain patient and the next book will be out, along with the audiobook of The Book of Mook, which is still being edited.
Oh, one last thing. Kobo has started selling my book on their platform, alongside the free mookey novella The Legend of Zuluzog, if you have not read it yet! You can find the links at the top of the page.
Best wishes,
Philip Wyatt
